Teleoperation: when a person is driving your robot

Four of the 50 robots we track can be run by a person working remotely, according to the maker: 1X NEO, Fourier GR-3, NEURA 4NE1 and 4NE1 Mini. Whoever drives the robot may see your home through its cameras.

What teleoperation means

A teleoperated robot is moved by a human somewhere else, using the robot's cameras and controls. Makers use it to do tasks the robot can't yet do alone, and to collect training data. In our chore matrix a task done this way gets the "with a person driving it" mark, never "shipping capability".

Robots that use remote operators

1X NEO Pre-order

Teleoperated assist. 1X says NEO works on its own by default. For chores it doesn't know, a 1X Expert can remotely supervise it at times you schedule. (1x.tech)

Owners can pilot NEO remotely from anywhere through the mobile app and a VR device. (1x.tech)

Fourier GR-3 Unclear

Teleoperated assist. Fourier calls GR-3 a care robot built for companionship. Its spec sheet lists remote control through VR headsets such as Pico, Vision Pro and Quest. (support.fftai.com)

NEURA 4NE1 Pre-order

Teleoperated assist. NEURA says 4NE1 runs its AI on the robot and lists remote operation as a feature. It doesn't say how much is autonomous. (neura-robotics.com)

4NE1 Mini Pre-order

Developer platform. NEURA aims 4NE1 Mini at classrooms and labs, with Python programming. The Pro adds C++ programming, a digital twin and teleoperation. Both are expected in 2026. (neura-robotics.com)
